Curriculum Scope & Educational Purpose
PeopleVote Campus Chapters do not replace, alter, or substitute any existing school curriculum, coursework, lesson plans, or academic requirements. PeopleVote does not provide instruction, grading, or academic credit.
Chapters operate strictly as extracurricular, student-led civic organizations intended to:
- Increase civic literacy
- Promote voter participation
- Build leadership and community engagement
Chapter Types
PeopleVote supports two chapter types:
- College / University Chapters
- High School Chapters (students age 16 and older)
Both chapter types must comply with all nonpartisan, safety, and conduct standards outlined in this charter.
Core Nonpartisan Requirements (All Chapters)
Required
- Chapters must remain fully nonpartisan at all times
- Voter registration is the primary mission of every chapter
- Weekly voter registration efforts are required (campus or local community)
- Operate under PeopleVote community standards and moderation guidelines
Not Permitted
- Political advocacy for parties, candidates, or ballot positions
- Political persuasion or campaign activity
- Single-candidate public events
- Unequal rules, biased moderation, or selective access
Civic Engagement Events
College / University Chapters
- At least one live civic engagement event per month leading up to the November election
- Host at least one local candidate forum or debate featuring two or more candidates
- Host at least one national candidate forum or debate featuring two or more candidates
- Best-faith effort to host at least one open forum with local candidates prior to local primary elections
High School Chapters (Modified Requirements)
Recognizing academic schedules and limited daytime availability, high school chapters may host shortened-format live events (virtual or in-person), such as:
- Candidate Q&A sessions
- Moderated town halls
- Panel-style discussions
- Required: at least one local multi-candidate civic engagement event per election cycle
- Voter registration efforts must continue throughout the school year
- All events must remain neutral, moderated, and focused on civic understanding
Weekly Voter Registration & Respectful Dialogue
Every chapter runs recurring voter registration outreach and supports respectful, structured civic discussions. Chapters are designed to build civic participation—not to persuade or campaign.

Voter & Candidate Engagement Tools
Voters May
- Compare candidates using side-by-side comparisons within the app
- Follow candidates for updates and events
- Share candidate profiles using in-app QR codes
- Participate in respectful, structured civic discussions
Candidates May
- Participate in LIVE in-person and online debates, town halls, and meet-and-greets
- Appear alongside other candidates under equal rules and moderation
- Engage voters in a transparent, non-threatening environment
- Campus Chapters do not endorse or promote any candidate

Our goal is to create a new generation of informed voters and civic leaders.
Required School Staff Representative
Each chapter must appoint at least one school-approved staff representative serving in an advisory and compliance role.
Eligible representatives include:
- Civics teachers
- Political science professors
- Social studies instructors
- Other school-approved staff members
Chapters may not operate without an active representative on record. Failure to maintain this role may result in probation or suspension.
